I've had aftermarket and Peugeot Gutmann wheels on my 16V that were 7" wide.

With the correct offset of 15mm, you still have to "tweak" the rear arches.

This involved flushing the inner steel wing back a few mm so that it is smooth with the outer GRP rear arch spat.

You also have to reprofile slightly the rear arch spat where it comes up and away from the sill of the rear door shut. This only comes into play when the car is down on it's suspension or set into low, but still has to be done to avoid damaging the tyre.

So to answer your question: I do not know of anybody fitting 8" wide wheels to a Bx and for me it is unpracticle to attempt.

I found that with 7" wide wheels the car tram lined a lot more but did feel more planted on the road.

I figured as much, but as always it's great to hear some personal experience, I hadn't realised all that was required to fit 7 inch wheels, but it seems likely.

I will say that a 16V on alloys does look good :D

If you look back on Page 1 of this topic, there is a picture of my Triton Phase 2 on 17".

This is my Phase 1 with the 7" Guttman wheels. If you compare and contrast to the standard wheels you can see how they fill the arches out:

Anyone can tell me if it is possible to mount 16's wheels with 20mm offset in the rear of the BX?

Would very much depend on the width and offset of the wheels fella, 16s as in 16" or 16 soupapes wheels??

16" has the size of the wheels. The offset of the wheels is 20mm.

If is a 20mm ET rim then won't need a spacer as will be out quite tight to the arch edge,
A 20mm spacer would bring it down to a Zero offset, you'd need some work on the arch to get them in if at all, iirc the Std alloy is an ET15 so you can judge the extra space needed from the rim edge out, not forgetting the extra width on the 16" rims.

When I ran the 17's on the car I had to file down the inner side of the fiberglass Arch cover, if you look at the picture od the sport you can see the wheel is Close to the front of the rear arch, is the section on the insdie used to catch on the tyre,
They look the Nuts of nice rims though, was Dans triton on gold team dynamic Rims that used to have a small picture on the Old foruim that got me thinking! And mikes p2 triton, can't remember the rims you had mike, may be bk's similar to those on the sport?? And not forgetting Simrans on the compomotives! - Love those wjeels!!! They Really do suit angular wheels due to the shape of the car,

Hi all,

Do we think this is too close, I couldn't really get the verniers in there but it seems to be around 2 - 2.5mm between the calliper and spoke. Spins happily.

The brake pad warning wire is touching but i'm sure I can sort that easily.

Or just bite the bullet and get some 5mm hubcentric spacers

The rear looks tight, I might stick with 195's.

What have other people done with these rear arch mounting butterfly nuts and associated threads?

The rear arch mounting Nuts don't really serve any purpose except to hold it in place on the construction line while the bonding sets. Have you ever tried removing a front or rear arch spat? Takes hours hacking away at the bonding!

In other word you'd be safe to find the threads off :wink:
