Re: Crank sensor location

Its pointing at the teeth on the fly wheel and mounted onto the gearbox. I think its mounted further back than under the ignition coil, under the HP pump. Seem to think its a bit of an arse to get to, albeit straight forward.

Re: mk 1 16v fuel pump question

I've recently been educated that valver pumps only run when cranking out running. Confirmed by physical test on the ph2 sat outside (in the rain).

Can you put one of the see through filters in to give you a better idea of flow and content? Maybe there is air being drawn into the lines?

Citroen Centenary - 31st May to 2nd June

https://www.citroencentenary.org.uk/

Part of the reason for getting my valver back on the road is in order to attend the Citroen Centenary at Coombe Park (Coventry, M6 J2). I'm likely to only be going on the Saturday.

Anybody else fancy it?

Re: mk 1 16v fuel pump question

I think, and I'm afraid I'm no expert, that it primes when on ignition by running for a fixed time period (3s) then stops. On crank the pump doesn't start again until the ECU sees the engine running but I'm not sure of the criteria for this. EDIT I've recently learned this is a load of horse manure ...

Re: Chances of success

Well I'm on my third and last train before the adventure really begins. Beautiful views across the country side on the way down. I bet the view won't be so good from the hard shoulder😂

Chances of success

Tomorrow I'm heading off in the direction of Bristol to pick up the pink shed after some TLC. What are my chances of getting back (132miles) in one go, without the use of the breakdown services? Remember this is the first time the car has driven anywhere for almost exactly 5 years! Pictures of break...

Re: Rear wash wipe switch

Hi Mac,

So the car isn't running yet but you're worried about the graphic on a switch, you sound as OCD as me, and unfortunately all the ones I have are worn. I assume its a black switch? I have a brown one with a good graphic some where. I think.

Re: Red Mk1 16v

The pump will prime when you first turn the key from off to ignition, but if you crank and fail to start, it will cut out for safety. Well as safe as a 30 year old motronic engine control system can get. Are you getting a spark? The coils tend to fail if they sit for long periods. It's wasted spark ...

Re: Metal fuel lines

I wouldn't fit rubber hose front to back, its just too exposed. Ive seen Americans using hard plastic type pipe which can be easily formed, but i'd try your local citroen dealer first, then maybe Chevronics.

Re: Red Mk1 16v

Working from the tank is the pickup, a rubber hose, the pump, a rubber hose, a pulse damper, rubber hose, metal hose from front to rear sub-frame, rubber hose up into the engine bay and onto the fuel rail. If its pissing out at the rear I would guess that the pulse damper has failed/rotten out. A lo...

Got any pictures?

How much work do you want to do yourself, and what's the budget?. Do you want it back on the road or show room condition.
